The Genius of Bees and Their Hives

Bees, often ignored because of their small size, are among the smartest and most organized animals. Their complex societies and incredible structures, the hives, showcase a remarkable mix of biology, behavior, and natural engineering.

**The Hive: A Masterclass in Design**
A bee hive consists of perfectly aligned hexagonal cells made of wax. This shape isn’t random. The hexagon uses the least material to create a strong, space-efficient structure. Its design is so effective that architects and engineers study it.

Bees make wax from glands on their abdomens, and worker bees carefully build and maintain the hive. Each cell stores honey, pollen, or acts as a cradle for developing larvae.
